The President of King Abdulaziz University, Dr. Tareef bin Youssef Al-Aama, inaugurated the forum for the heads and supervisors of the scientific departments and launched the Distinguished Scientific Department Award. Dr. Al-Aama also opened the third cycle of the Distinguished Scientific Department Award during his address at the forum, which was organized by the KAU Center for Teaching and Learning Development on 26 November 2024 at the King Faisal Center for Conferences.
The third cycle of the President's Distinguished Scientific Department Award has revised its criteria to encourage scientific departments to develop plans and implement practices that prioritize students as a central focus, while contributing to the creation of successful stories, promoting excellence, and fostering the intellectual development of students.
In his remarks during the forum's first session, Dr. Tareef bin Youssef Al-Aama emphasized the significance of the forum and its role in fostering effective communication between the heads and supervisors of the departments. He noted that the academic and administrative integration achieved through this collaboration is key to preparing and qualifying national cadres. He also highlighted that the success of the scientific departments lies in their commitment to student welfare, providing an environment conducive to their growth, and ensuring both academic and professional support for faculty members.
The President of the university also touched on the graduate studies programs and scientific research, pointing out that the university, across all its sectors, is working to translate the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. It is built on a strong historical legacy and solid foundations, enriched with distinguished academic and research staff, and is equipped with high-quality scientific centers and laboratories. As a result, its students and researchers have achieved notable accomplishments and received awards both locally and internationally.
The first session was attended by Professor Dr. Hanaa bint Abdullah Al-Naeem, Acting Vice-President for Educational Affairs; Professor Dr. Ameen bin Youssef Noman, Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research; and Dr. Mohammad Al-Amoudi, Vice-President for Business and Knowledge Innovation. Additionally, Dr. Yousif Abu Sharkh, the Vice-Dean of the Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation, presented the faculty evaluation system on Anjez. The Dean of Graduate Studies, Professor Dr. Fatima Kamel, also participated in the session. Following this, the floor was opened for discussion.
Other notable participants in the second session included Dr. Naif Al-Jahani, Head of Data Management; Mr. Hussein Al-Shareef, Head of General Administration of Human Resources; Mr. Khalid Al-Amoudi, Head of General Administration of Financial Affairs; Mr. Sultan Al-Asiri, Head of General Administration for Planning and Budget; and Mr. Fahad Al-Zoulaai, Head of General Administration for Legal Affairs.
The forum concluded with the third session, during which Dr. Yousif Abu Sharkh, Vice-Dean of the Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation, presented an overview of the university's strategic plan. Also participating in the session were Dr. Saeed Badghash, Dean of Scientific Research, Dr. Fahad Al-Hazemi, the President's Advisor for Donor Relations Affairs, and Ms. Amal Al-Syed, Deputy Director of the Media Centre.
The forum aimed to achieve academic and administrative integration, as well as to present best administrative and educational practices to support the development of the educational process. It also aimed to discuss shared challenges facing the departments, propose innovative solutions to ensure quality and sustainability, and support institutional strategies that align with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 for higher education. |
