King Abdulaziz University Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with Saudi Cruise in Maritime Tourism Industry.

King Abdul-Aziz University, represented by the Faculty of Maritime Studies, signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saudi Cruise, with the aim of qualifying graduates and acquiring skills by enhancing education and training in the maritime tourism industry sector. The MoU was signed on Thursday, 28 November 2024, at the Minor Hall of the Senior Administration.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the University for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Amin bin Yousef Noman, and the CEO of Saudi Cruise, Lars Klassen.
The agreement comes within the framework of the joint commitment to develop education in the maritime tourism industry sector and enhance cooperation between the academic and industrial sectors. The goal is to empower Saudi competencies and create job opportunities in the maritime tourism industry, with the aim of developing training programs, educational curricula, and licensing requirements in both the maritime industry and maritime tourism sectors.
Under the MoU, Saudi Cruise, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and specialized in developing the cruise industry, will provide strategic recommendations and data on the sector to contribute to the development of academic programs at King Abdulaziz University's Faculty of Maritime Studies. This initiative aims to ensure that graduates are equipped with the skills required to face the challenges of the labor market in both sectors.
The Faculty of Maritime Studies at King Abdulaziz University is working on developing specialized training programs that meet the specific requirements of Saudi Cruise, alongside professional training programs that keep pace with the evolving requirements of the maritime industry. These programs will rely on the academic capabilities and expertise available at the university.
The Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies at King Abdul-Aziz University, Prof. Dr. Faisal Al-Dhibiani, clarified that the collaboration reflects our commitment to equip future generations with the skills required to achieve prosperity in the maritime industry sector. He emphasized the university’s goal of aligning its academic programs with industry requirements to contribute to building a specialized national workforce and promoting innovation in the maritime industry sector in the Kingdom. He pointed out that the memorandum comes within the objectives of the faculty, which seeks to achieve its goals towards Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. |
