A special ceremony was held by King Abdulaziz University Hospital in celebration of its accreditation by Accreditation Canada, a not-for-profit, independent organization accredited by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua).
Prof Osama S. Tayyeb, KAU President, expressed his sheer delight with the achievement.
"The achievement attests to our ongoing commitment and dedication to providing clients with the highest quality health services", he said.
"Receiving this exemplary standing not only gives us pride but also serves as impetus to continue improving quality health care", he also added.
According to Prof Mahmoud Al-Ahwal, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, surveyors of Canadian Accreditation spent some time on-site at KAU last December reviewing documentation and performance data, observing care processes, interviewing the board of directors, staff, clients and community partners.
In a letter addressed to Prof Al-Ahwal, Suzanne Larocque, Chair, Accreditation Decision Committee, Accreditation Canada, congratulated him and his team on the achievement, maintaining that it was a milestone to be celebrated.
She also encouraged KAU to use its Quality Performance Roadmap to document and track its improvement efforts, and continue to use the standards, and indicators to guide its quality improvement initiatives.
