In a new achievement by King Abdulaziz University students, the university’s delegation of inventors participating in the iENA 2024 International Trade Fair for Ideas, Inventions, and New Products in Nuremberg, Germany, set a new record by winning a total of 39 diverse medals and exclusive international awards. This successful participation adds to the distinguished record of the university’s students in international invention and innovation exhibitions.
The students won 7 diverse medals, along with 2 exclusive global awards and 30 special international prizes, showcasing their outstanding inventions and excellent presentations before the judging committees at the exhibition held from October 26 to 28, 2024.
Dr. Musaab Alharbi, the official spokesperson for King Abdulaziz University, praised the students’ accomplishments, stating, “This outstanding achievement by King Abdulaziz University students at the iENA 2024 exhibition reflects the innovative capabilities and academic excellence nurtured at our university. Their success on a global platform underscores the university’s commitment to supporting creativity and research, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to foster a knowledge-based economy. The students participated with ten inventions among 510 entries from 31 countries around the world, all judged by specialists in various fields of innovation and invention.
The results were announced by the international judging committee during the award ceremony held on the evening of Monday, October 28, 2024. The awards and medals won by the King Abdulaziz University delegation are as follows:
First: Medals
• Gold Medal for the “Smart Medicine Kit” by a team from the College of Engineering: Mohammed Saleh Al-Zahrani, Nawaf Khalid Al-Ghamdi, Omar Salem Bahamdan, Musleh Ubaidallah Al-Juhani, Saeed Abdulaziz Mohammed, Faisal Abdulrahman Al-Harbi.
• Gold Medal for the “Smart Ostomy Bag” by a team from the College of Nursing: Rana Mufarrej Al-Harbi, Rafal Mohsen Bin Qarsin, Shahad Mohammed Kansara, Wafa Abdulkhaleq Al-Salami.
• Gold Medal for the “Emergency Priority Bracelet” by a team from the College of Medicine and College of Engineering: Rahaf Hussain Alam, Raghd Mahmoud Al-Jundi, Renaad Abdullah Al-Afandi, Hussain Ahmed Al-Amoudi.
• Gold Medal for the “Peripheral Neuropathy Detector” by a team from the College of Engineering and College of Nursing: Layan Hassan Asiri, Hala Hatem Maghrabi.
• Silver Medal for the “Smart Window” by a team from the College of Engineering: Raghad Ahmed Al-Saedi, Lujain Saeed Asiri, Lama Abdulrahman Al-Salami, Nour Akram Al-Mufti, Woson Majid Al-Ahmadi, Amal Abdullah Al-Atass.
• Silver Medal for the “Hyperactivity and Attention Deficit Detector” by a team from the College of Nursing: Layan Hassan Asiri, Hala Hatem Maghrabi, Reem Omar Hussein.
• Bronze Medal for the “Innovative Antifouling Coating for Marine Industries” by a team from the College of Medicine and College of Engineering: Hamza Radwan Al-Farwati, Ruweid Ali Baomar.
Second: Exclusive Global Awards
1. Polish Association of Inventors and Innovators (SPWiR) - awarded to the team behind the “Smart Ostomy Bag” from the College of Nursing.
2. Korea Invention Promotion Association (KIPA) - awarded to the team behind the “Innovative Antifouling Coating for Marine Industries” from the College of Medicine and College of Engineering.
